Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh died on Thursday night at the age of 92. There is a wave of mourning in the film industry including the country. Many celebs including Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Chiranjeevi paid tribute to him, while Swara Bhaskar shared a college story related to Manmohan Singh. When he saved the students protesting against him from being suspended.
Chiranjeevi shared a picture with Manmohan Singh and wrote, his visionary and game-changing contribution as Finance Minister and then his very successful tenure as the 13th Prime Minister of India for two consecutive terms will be recorded in history. I feel privileged and fortunate to have served as a Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Tourism during the tenure of a stalwart leader like him. I always remember my conversations with him and the inspiration and knowledge I got from him. This is a big loss for our country. My deepest condolences to his family and his numerous fans. May your soul rest in peace Manmohan ji.

Sunny Deol wrote, I am deeply saddened by the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, a visionary leader who played an important role in shaping India’s economic liberalization. His intelligence, loyalty and contribution to the development of the nation will always be remembered.

Sanjay Dutt wrote, Deeply saddened by the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh ji. His contribution to India will never be forgotten.

Swara Bhaskar wrote for Manmohan Singh, I remember when Manmohan Singh came to JNU. I was a student. I think at that time Singu Nandigram happened or maybe it was an anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh. There was talk of protests on campus. There was a lot of security, but leftist student organizations AISU, DSU hung black flags in the campus and tried to stop the Prime Minister’s speech by raising slogans and showing black flags and were successful. Those students were immediately removed and given expulsion notices.

Swara further said, we heard a few days later that the PMO had called the Vice Chancellor and requested that the students not be expelled, as they were within their democratic right to protest. What a contradiction there is in today’s Indian politics, leadership and political environment. This is proof of why Manmohan Singh was a great Prime Minister.
Anupam Kher paid tribute to him by sharing a video. He also wrote, Deeply saddened to hear the news of the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. I studied him for one and a half years for the film The Accidental Prime Minister. I feel like I’ve spent so much time with him. He was naturally a good person. He was extremely honest, a great economist and extremely humble. Some people may say that he was not a shrewd politician. My condolences to his family. Om Shanti.
