Despite this, the air strikes from all areas are reaching Israel and causing harm to it. Now America has deployed one of its most advanced missile defense systems, ‘Terminal High Altitude Area Defense’ (THAAD) in Israel. It is also called Thaad. Let us know about this defense system.

What is THAAD?

According to NDTV report, the THAAD missile defense system has been designed to protect against short, medium and intermediate range ballistic missiles. There is only one American system that can detect threats coming from inside and outside our atmosphere.

Why only THAAD?

The specialty of THAAD Missile Defense System is that it can protect against ballistic missile attacks. America has always stood with Israel and now it has deployed THAAD in Israel.

How does the THAAD system work?

As we said, THAAD can intercept ballistic missiles. It can destroy enemy missiles inside and outside the atmosphere. This missile system does not have explosive warheads. It destroys the enemy missile by using kinetic energy. If explained in simple language, to dispose of the enemy’s missiles, it attacks them by applying force or power instead of using explosives.

There are 4 major elements of THAAD missile defense system.
Interceptor: It destroys the enemy missile by using kinetic energy.
Launch Vehicle: A type of mobile truck that carries the interceptor. This is how the interceptor is launched.
Radar: It tracks threats from a distance of 870 to 3,000 kilometers.
Fire Control System: It looks after the coordination between the interceptor and the enemy missile.

A standard THAAD battery consists of 6 truck-mounted launchers. Each has 8 interceptors. There are also radar and radio equipment.
