New Delhi. Govinda was a superstar of the 80s and 90s, who used to shoot several films in a single day in different shifts. He used to work on about ten projects at a time, due to which producers often had to wait. He was very famous for his lateness, but his stardom was such that his tantrums were always tolerated. His dance, acting skills and comic timing made him a reliable star of that era. Govinda has been away from the screen for a long time. Regarding him, many stars told in their interviews that Govinda was not punctual about time. Recently Shakti Kapoor talked about his co-star and told what is the biggest change in him now.
Shakti Kapoor is one of the veteran actors of Bollywood. He has worked with many stars. In a recent interview, the actor recalled that shooting in Hyderabad, where superstar Aamir Khan had come among the common people to watch his favorite actor Govinda shooting. This film was ‘Rangeela Babu’
Aamir Khan had reached Hyderabad to watch the shooting
Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Shakti Kapoor shared, ‘I remember an incident from the old days. Govinda and I were shooting a qawwali scene in Hyderabad. This was a competition between the two of us. From a distance, I saw a very small person standing in a corner of the crowd. When I saw him I felt that I had seen this person somewhere. After a while, I realized that he was Aamir Khan.
When Shakti Kapoor saw Aamir on the set, he said – What are you doing here?
He further said, I asked him, ‘Sir, what are you doing here? Should I ask someone to bring a chair and tea? He said, ‘I have come to see how Govinda lip syncs so well and how he gives such long shots in a single take.’ Then he said, ‘I am the biggest fan of Govinda.’
Now Govinda has become very professional
When Shakti Kapoor was asked what has changed in Govinda over the years? So Shakti Kapoor immediately replied, ‘The one thing that has changed in him is his punctuality. Earlier, he used to come at 9 pm instead of 9 am. Now, he reaches at 8:30 for the 9 am shift. He said, ‘Insecurity can lead a person to many places. Now he has become very professional and the entire industry knows it.
‘It’s never too late for an actor or artist’
In the same interview, Shakti Kapoor also supported his friend and co-star Govinda. He said, ‘People say that it is too late for an actor to make a comeback. But I don’t believe in it. We have seen people like Amrish Puri starting at the age of 44. It is never too late for an actor or artist.
Govind is Aamir Khan’s favorite
At the same time, Aamir Khan has often shared his admiration for Govinda. In 2010, in an interview with PTI, the ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ actor had shared that my favorite actor is Govinda. He can really make me laugh. I just like his movies. His comic timing is very good and he is a good actor. Aamir also told about Govinda’s film which he likes very much. He had told that he likes Govinda’s film ‘Sandwich’, which he has seen 10 to 12 times.
