Let us tell you, Neena Gupta’s daughter Masaba Gupta was born in 1989. He was not married till then. Therefore, soon after her birth, Nandi stole Masaba’s birth certificate from the registrar’s office, so that she could reveal her true identity. In an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, Neena had talked about this and said, “Prateesh Nandy stole my birth certificate from the registrar’s office.”

Neena Gupta further said, “And I called him a bastard! All this happened openly…they went and stole! Pritish Nandi! They sent someone. I was living with my aunt. My aunt went and applied for her birth certificate. He said, ‘We will get the birth certificate after a week.’ So she went after a week and they said, ‘Some relative of yours took it.'”

Neena Gupta said, “Coincidentally, I knew someone who knew that person. It came to light that Pritish sent it to someone and then he wrote an article. If those illiterate people do it then what will they say about you.” The birth certificate was then published in a magazine, thus it was known to everyone that Masaba was the daughter of West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards. As Masaba grew up, she started being called a ‘love-child’
