In the year 1995, a similar film was released, which not only proved that rebirth is not only for lovers but also for the mother. The film which revealed the love between two brothers. When the film was released, not only the story but also the songs created a stir. The direction of this film was in the hands of Rakesh Roshan, which remains in the hearts and minds of people even after 30 years of its release. ‘Mere Karan Arjun will come…’ With just this one dialogue, the story of the entire film gets captured in the hearts and minds of the people.
It will be re-released in theaters on November 22. Recently, director Rakesh Roshan spoke to Indian Express and talked about his cult classic. He shared memories of choosing Rakhee Gulzar for his lead role and joked with Amrish Puri that when Karan and Arjun’s comeback depended on how much the character of ‘Thakur Durjan Singh’ (Amrish Puri) liked him. How Rakhi got the role of ‘Durga Singh’
Rakesh revealed that Rakhi immediately agreed to join the film. He said, ‘I have worked a lot with Rakhi as an actor, so I went to her to narrate the story. When I told him the story he asked me whether I was there just to get his opinion or to cast him. She immediately said yes. This was an important role.
Rakhi’s powerful dialogue delivery
The director of the film further recalled the shooting of the film’s historical dialogue ‘Mere Bete Aayenge’. He told that the conviction with which Rakhi spoke this dialogue became the basis of the film. Rakesh Roshan recalled that if he had said this dialogue with simplicity, people would not have been able to connect with the film. He said it with so much impact, it showed in his eyes, we could feel the vibration and people also wanted Karan Arjun to come back.
Hrithik Roshan took charge of assistant direction in the film.
‘Do you think Karan Arjun will come back?’
The director shared the conversation he had with Amrish Puri during casting. He recalled, ‘Amrish ji and I have been very close friends, he had worked with me in ‘Koyla’ and ‘Kishan Kanhaiya’, so when I went to him, he asked me, ‘Do you think? That Karan Arjun will come back? I said, ‘The more badly you hit them, the more badly they will come back to hit you.’ ,
‘Karan Arjun’ is different from other reincarnation stories
Rakesh Roshan told that ‘Karan Arjun’ is different from other reincarnation stories as it focuses on a mother’s bond with her sons rather than a love story. He also said, ‘Most films on reincarnation are made on love stories, this was the first time that a film was made on the relationship between a mother and two sons. I again established the flow of loving union between the two brothers.
Hrithik used to come by bus and not with his father.
He revealed that Hrithik was also not given any special treatment on the sets of the film. He was present along with other star cast and team. At the same time, he used to stay with the crew unit even during outdoor shooting. Recalling an incident, Rakesh Roshan said, ‘I always used to go to the film sets in my car, but Hrithik used to go by bus. I never liked taking him with me. I wanted him to see that life well too. When we used to go for outdoor shooting of the film, Hrithik used to stay not with the stars but with the people of the unit.
Got a chance to know the world behind the camera
Rakesh Roshan further said, ‘Four men were in the room and Hrithik used to share the room with them. Having dinner with them, which sometimes upset his stomach. I did this with her for four to five years. This gave him an opportunity to know the world behind the camera. Rakesh Roshan concluded his statement by saying, the advantage of all these things is that Hrithik does not arrive late for the shooting of any film.
