The growth of the Indian smartphone market progressed at a very slow pace in the second quarter of the year. A report has been released by market research firm Canalys regarding market growth. In which it has been said that the Indian smartphone market registered a growth of only 1 percent in Q2 2024. Many factors have been cited behind this, including elections in India during this period, severe heat of the weather, low demand in the season, etc. Despite this, there has been a major change in the ranking of smartphone manufacturing companies.

Xiaomi has once again become number one after being deprived of the top position for the last several months. Canalys of Report This has been claimed in. In the second quarter, the company achieved a market share of 18 percent. It sold 67 lakh smartphone units during this period, due to which it again became the top smartphone company in India. The company focused on the 5G segment and launched devices in every price range.

Xiaomi also paid special attention to launching flagships. Recently, the company launched the top flagship Xiaomi 14 series. Along with this, Xiaomi 14 Civi was also introduced. After Xiaomi, Vivo comes next, which is just behind it. That is, there is not much difference in the market share of both in the report. The third place went to Samsung, which sold 61 lakh units during the period. After this comes Realme and Oppo.

Realme is fourth on the list with 43 lakh units sold. While Oppo is fifth with 42 lakh units sold. The scenario was different in the first quarter of the year, when the market achieved 15 percent year-on-year growth. More than 3.5 crore smartphones were shipped in the first quarter.

Samsung dominated the first quarter when the company achieved a market share of 19 percent. After that, brands like Xiaomi, Vivo were at the top. At the same time, in the coming year i.e. in 2025, about 44 percent of Indian customers can buy a new phone. In which customers will have a special focus on 5G phones.

Here are some challenges for the market. During the festive season, customers expect a huge price reduction which damages the brand value and reduces the company’s profit. The process of shifting from feature phones to smartphones is very slow in the country. This factor also has a negative impact on smartphone sales.
