Director Apoorva Lakhia recalled how he expressed his anger towards Abhishek Bachchan when the actor refused to do his film after wandering around for six months.

Meanwhile, Apoorva Lakhia approached Abhishek for his first film ‘Mumbai Se Aaye Mera Dost’. Apoorva had previously assisted in Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Lagaan’ and also worked in some Hollywood films. But when he decided to make his first Hindi film, it took him time to get the desired lead actor.

Recently, in a conversation with ‘Friday Talkies’, Apoorva remembered that Pahlaj Nihalani’s son Vicky had offered to produce his first film. When Apoorva shared the idea of ​​his film and told that he wanted to cast Abhishek in the lead role, he got a chance to meet Abhishek. Apoorva told that Abhishek liked the script, but the conversation on the film continued for six months. During this time, Apoorva felt that Abhishek would say yes to the film, because he had passed a lot of time in it.

He told, ‘He is very interesting. When you go for the first time, you get water. A week later, if he calls you again, you are offered Cappuchino. Till then, you come to know that you are progressing and in the fourth or fifth meeting, you are offered dry fruits. It gives you the green signal and when he starts offering you sandwiches and other things, then you know that we will shoot now.

The director snatched the script when the director said ‘Never mind’
However, things were not as expected by Apoorva, as Abhishek refused to the film after six months. He further told in the conversation that after six months, he called me and said, this film should be made but not with me. I got very angry and I snatched my script from him and said, ‘Never mind’ and I went away. A week after the incident, he received a call from Abhishek’s secretary.

Apoorva said that he had already decided that he would not apologize for his behavior. Vicky had already warned Apoorva that he had threatened his career by fighting with Amitabh Bachchan’s son. He told that after hearing this, I could not stop myself and reached his house. He told, ‘We went and sit and to make me realize that he is a star, he made me wait for half an hour. This time, we were only offered water. He came and sat down, and asked me, ‘Are you angry with me?’ I said, ‘Absolutely, I am angry with you.’

‘I wasted six months of my life’
Apoorva further said, ‘I told him,’ You are the son of Amitabh Bachchan, you will not have any problem, he is Pahlaj Nihalani’s son, he will not have any problem, but I have to worry about my fare of Rs 7,000. I wasted six months of my life, if you were not interested, you could have told me, I would have contacted someone else.
