New Delhi: Actress-designer Masaba Gupta is the daughter of famous actress Neena Gupta and great West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards. The actress has now revealed many things related to her life. She never saw acting as a career option, because her mother Neena Gupta believed that there are fixed standards of beauty in films, due to which it would be difficult for her to make a name in acting.
Audiences know Masaba Gupta from the Netflix series Masaba Masaba. According to the Indian Express report, the actress told Faye D’Souza, ‘She said that the industry in India always works in a certain way and there are certain faces that people associate with an actor. Mother said – You will always be considered very artistic and out of the box, for which you will probably get vamp or seductive roles. She said that if you want to become a heroine of mainstream Hindi cinema, then it will not happen, so I should leave it.’
When daughter Masaba got advice from Neena Gupta
Masaba considers her mother’s advice to be a good one, because parents can easily support their child in what they want without taking a realistic approach to the problems. She says, “I decided that I didn’t want to be a supporting artist. I like to be in the front and lead. She said that as an artist, it can be very frustrating.”
When Masaba became a victim of body shaming
Masaba also spoke openly about the body shaming that she faces on a regular basis. The actress’s skin was also compared to late actor Om Puri due to the acne scars on her face. The actor-designer had posted a video on Instagram without a filter, after which he faced a lot of trolling. Someone commented on the video, ‘What are you doing with the makeup brand, your skin is like Om Puri.’
