The film 12th Fail was released on 27 October 2023. Now after a year, the film related to its making has been released. The name of the film is – Restart from Zero. The total length of the film is 90 minutes. Dainik Bhaskar has given it a 4.5 star rating out of 5.
Generally in reviews we talk about story, direction, acting and music. It is not about what the story is like here. Rather, how the story was woven. How were the actors cast? How the locations were finalized, all these points have been discussed.
At the beginning of the film, it was told that Vidhu Vinod Chopra had been working on the story of 12th Fail for two years. There was a bundle of scripts lying in his office. They were just working on the story and concept of the film. Was looking for a director. Two or three directors also came. Everyone found the story of the film nonsense.
Then someone said to Vidhu Vinod Chopra that 12th failure is every person’s story, what new will you bring in it? This thing gave a kick to Vidhu. He said that the special thing is that this film is the story of every person, most people will be able to connect with it. Then similarly Vidhu himself became the director of the film.
The film has been released today i.e. on 13th December.
Vidhu selected himself as the director of the film, but was looking for an actor for the role of IPS Manoj Sharma. Vidhu got the advice to cast Varun Dhawan. He admitted that Varun Dhawan may be a talented actor, but he would not fit into the role of a village boy. Then he cast Vikrant Massey. There is no need to tell what happened next.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra (in cap) has produced films like Munnabhai MBBS, 3 Idiots and PK. Apart from this, he has also directed films like Eklavya, Shikara and Parinda.
This 90-minute film can be a tutorial for those who want to pursue a career in film making. After watching the film, you will understand how well Vidhu Vinod Chopra understands the craft and situation.
Vidhu himself said that he does not know whether 12th Fail will ever be made or not. Many times he had to restart from zero. Still he did not give up. The result is in front.
Finally, the biggest question is, why should anyone go to watch a film related to the making of a movie? Well, this question is also natural. However, one thing I would like to say is that if you have seen 12th Fail and liked it, then you can watch this film without blinking your eyes.
How was the film made, what were the challenges? How much time did it take? How the detailing of each scene was done. How many problems were there in the shoot at the original location? All these things have been explained well in this film.
12th Fail had earned more than Rs 70 crore worldwide.
After watching 12th Fail, you might have been inspired by the life of IPS Manoj Sharma, but after watching the film based on its making, you will be convinced of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s filmmaking and passion.
This is the first time in the history of Indian cinema that a separate film has been made based on the making video or in other words, BTS (Behind the Scenes) of a film. This experience may be different and new for you, so you can watch it comfortably in the theater without any hesitation.
