New Delhi. The pair of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar is one of the most successful writer pair of Bollywood. This pair has given many hit films together. After the release of this duo’s documentary on Netflix, the discussion about these two veteran writers has once again intensified in the corridors of Bollywood. Recently, the writer of TV’s popular show ‘FIR’, Amit Aryan, refused to accept Salim Javed as a writer and said that both of them were not writers but good salesmen.
In an interview given to Digital Commentary, Amit Aryan says, ‘I do not consider Salim-Javed as writers. This may be taken as a controversial statement, but yes, it seems the whole world admires him, but not me. He has only copied things all his life. Salim-Javed are copy-writers, not writers. Let me tell you why.
He further says that Salim-Javed have also copied the story of the blockbuster film ‘Sholay’. He says, ‘His film ‘Sholay’ is about a man whose hands are chopped off by dacoits, who wants to take his revenge with the help of two people. It was released in 1975 and just before that a film named Mera Gaon Mera Desh was released. Vinod Khanna played the role of a dacoit and his name was Jabbar Singh, this name was changed to Gabbarsingh in Sholay. There Jayant played the role of an army officer and here he was playing the role of a policeman. There only one hand was chopped off, here both his (Thakur’s) hands were chopped off. There Dharmendra took revenge, here it was Amitabh Bachchan.
The writer further says that the story of Sholay is similar to ‘Do Aankhen Aur Barh Haath’ and ‘Seven Samurai’. Amit Aryan, writer of ‘FIR’, one of the most popular shows in the world of TV, further says that the climax of the film ‘Deewar’ written by Salim-Javed duo is copied from the film ‘Ganga Jamuna’.
Veteran Bollywood duo Salim-Javed had worked together for 22 films. He had written the stories of excellent films like ‘Sholay’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Kala Patthar’, ‘Sita Aur Geeta’, ‘Dostana’, ‘Mr India’. After working together in 22 films, creative differences between the two started increasing and they decided to get engaged.
